On January 6, 2020, George Toriello sent me this researched information about Samuel W. Lockwood:

Samuel W. Lockwood was born in Hackensack, New Jersey on April 25, 1914 so he would have been 27 years old at the outbreak of
World War II
, in 1941.

The 1930 Federal Census shows he was living at 129 Charles Street Lodi, New Jersey with his Grandmother, Mrs. Hannah Franklin. We do not know when he started his service, but Samuel W. Lockwood was an Army Private with the 4096th Unit Quartermaster Service Company and he was a truck driver.

On February 20, 1945 while serving in the Pacific Theater Samuel W. Lockwood died while serving his country.  Mrs. Sarah Williams of
68 Main Street in Hackensack signed for the headstone application in 1945.

Samuel W. Lockwood would have received a Purple Heart for his sacrifice.
